Skyler Cocco
ARTIST BIO
Skyler Cocco is a singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from the Queens/Nassau County area that discovered music at the early age of eleven when she began self-teaching herself instruments and writing and recording songs in her late father's basement studio. First introduced to the New York music scene by writing hooks for rap artists, it wasn't until Sklyer branched out into the broader world of pop and alt-rock while studying studio composition at the Music Conservatory of Purchase College that she broadened her musical pallet and her writing became personal and cathartic.
In writing and recording her debut album "Reverie", Skyler found her own voice as it became a documentation of her struggles with the loss of her father, depression and anxiety, and developing the maturity and skills to cope and share her experiences. The early released singles, "Some Nerve" and "Ordinary Life", solidified her sound with a hybrid of alt-rock, grunge, pop, and electronic elements with dream-like soundscapes and soaring melodies that Pop Matters described as "a unique pop sensibility to heavy, guitar-based rock".
